About Me
Hello! I’m John, a combat sports and subculture media creator based in Los Angeles, CA. Operating under FLICKSBYET, I specialize in capturing raw, cinematic, and timeless imagery—whether it’s the high-stakes pressure of a championship fight or a frame that documents the heartbeat of independent music culture.
My approach to visual storytelling is rooted in a deep legacy. As a ringside photographer for the Maharlikan Times, I cover the international boxing circuit across Southern California, shooting ringside for fighters, media teams, and promotions. I’m dedicated to documenting the split-second tension and pure narrative of the sport—from the tunnel walkouts and heavy-grit corners to peak-action exchanges.
Beyond the ring, that same pursuit of authentic, unfiltered movement translates directly into my work as a core visual collaborator for Do What I Want music label. Whether tracking late-night studio sessions, blocking out music video sets, or documenting streetwear brand activations, the objective remains identical: capturing culture, hustle, and the raw energy of the scene.
If you’re looking for dynamic, impactful media—whether under the arena lights or in the studio—let’s lock in and create something unforgettable.
About Maharlikan Times
Maharlikan Times began in 2008, where Granville Ampong began covering boxing through Philboxing.com and Top Rank as a journalist. During this time, he covered names in the likes of Pacquiao Sr., Mayweather Jr., De La Hoya, Mosley Sr., and Donaire Jr. His work was well known to media outlets like New York Times, LA Times, and ABS-CBN. He shortly retired the brand after his last press attendance for the Mayweather Pacquiao I fight back in 2015.
